EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 19 — Square Slice Studios, co-founded by critically acclaimed comic book writer Grant Morrison, announced today that they are actively engaged in a creative partnership with Magic Leap, the pioneers in spatial computing and mixed reality experiences. The partnership will mark Square Slice Studios’ initial steps into creating interactive experiences optimized for mixed and augmented reality utilizing the advanced feature set developed by Magic Leap.

“The team at Square Slice Studios has a reputation for forward thinking and innovative creation,” said Andy Lanning, Executive Creative Director at Magic Leap. “Their vision for the future aligns so much with ours that there will undoubtedly be a creative chemistry that helps usher in the next wave of dynamic and engaging content.”

Founded in 2016 by a team of industry titans, Square Slice Studios is anchored by renowned graphic novel writer and producer Grant Morrison. Morrison’s work in the comic book industry spans over three decades and includes such works as Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Invisibles, Animal Man, X-Men, the hit SyFy Channel series Happy!, and the upcoming television adaption of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, which remains in development at SyFy/UCP/Amblin. Morrison also served as an advisor to Magic Leap after an invitation from Rony Abovitz, President and CEO of Magic Leap, in 2013.

“Storytelling is my passion and I’ve found that new platforms allow me to extend my creative boundaries,” said Morrison. “We see Magic Leap as the next great platform for storytelling and we are excited to collaborate on content that helps bring our wildest dreams to life in the near future.”

Along with Morrison, Square Slice Studios was co-founded by creative industry veterans Craig Hunter, Kristan Morrison, Jonny Dobson, and Stewart Waterson, designer on the successful video game Grand Theft Auto.
